Psalm 42

Psalm 42 carries with it strong words of one who suffers, yet, even in the face of some disagreements, continues to trust in the Lord.

Psalm 77

Psalm 88 begins by representing a true cry of desperation, that the Lord may hear the psalmist's plea, as he considers himself on the brink of death.

Throughout the prayer, one can see that the psalmist finds himself in a deep darkness, with no prospect of leaving the bottom of the pit. Besides feeling far from God, he also finds himself distant from everyone he loves.

The psalmist comments that if he dies, his voice will never again be heard to praise the Father. At the end of the prayer, he repeats his complaints without reaching a solution.
