Eddie (Jon Voight) is an elderly man who had a hard life, marked by war and had to work hard. When he turned 83, he died after suffering an accident where he worked all his life as a mechanic in an amusement park. When he gets to heaven, Eddie realizes that he has lived without any purpose.

However, when he reaches heaven, he meets five people who were somehow part of his history and each of them relives moments of his life, to repair hang-ups from the past and remember the loves lived. Thus, they prepare him for his new journey.

The Silence - Martin Scorsese (2016)
